Bow Bells and the London Cockney

According to tradition, in order to qualify as a true London Cockney, you must be born with earshot of the bells from St. Mary-Le-Bow Church in London

24 Acoustics has recently worked with The Times Atlas of London to determine the extent of the audibility of the bells today, in 2012 and also in 1851 at the time of the Great Exhibition. This involved extensive noise surveys whilst the bells were tolling and detailed propagation modelling and consideration of background noise throughout north-east London to determine the level of audibility.
