Firth of Tay, Underwater Noise Impact Assessment

Project: Underwater Noise Impact Assessment
Location: Firth of Tay
Client: Jacobs Engineering

Information

With native Salmon, Seal, Bottlenose Dolphin and Lamprey, the noise impact on marine species occupying the Firth of Tay was a key environmental consideration prior to proposed upgrades and renovations to the Tay Road Bridge in Dundee. 24 Acoustics were retained to produce an environmental impact assessment of the project. The company prepared detailed acoustic modelling to establish underwater piling noise alongside the determination of significant threshold distances to the various species of marine life affected.
